Library Board and Administration

Wellington County Library operates under the terms of the Public Libraries Act, R.S.O. 1990, c. P.44.

Library Board

The Library Board oversees the activities of the library and ensures that community needs have been met. Board member duties include:

  1. Advocating for the library and the communities being served.
  2. Establishing service priorities for the library.
  3. Observing and evaluating the effectiveness of the library.
  4. Establishing and implementing policies for the library.

Board members represent a broad spectrum of community interests, with diverse viewpoints and strengths. Members include the County Warden, three County Councillors, and four citizen appointments to the library board. The term of the Library Board is four years, concurrent with the term of Council.

The Information, Heritage and Seniors Committee meets monthly on the second Wednesday of each month with the library board portion at 6:00 pm, September to June (no meeting in December). Members of the public are welcome to attend.

Library Administration staff support library services across all 14 branches.
