Ontario Public Library Week

Ontario Public Library Week (OPLW) is an annual celebration to raise awareness of the value of libraries. Public libraries offer welcoming spaces for people of all ages and backgrounds. As well as books, we provide programmes, resources, and services that help people connect, learn new skills, and access important tools like the Internet. By supporting lifelong learning and circular economy, libraries play a vital role in improving the lives of everyone.

In 2023, we had over 414,000 in-person visits, circulated over 962,000 items, and had over 35,000 programme participants. Thank you for your continued support!

OPLW 2024

From Sunday, October 20 to Saturday, October 26, you can enter to win a free book. Drop by as many times as you like for a contest ballot. It's our way of saying thanks for visiting!

Lost or damaged your card? You can get a replacement card for free during OPLW.

We also have an exciting new feature in the MyWCL app. You can now add and track activity on multiple cards in your app, just like you can with Libby and Kanopy. This is perfect for multi-card households, such as partners, parents, and caregivers. This feature allows you to see what's requested or due back on each card, and also gives you access to the digital cards for each person’s account.

We would love to hear from you!

Share your favourite library stories with staff, in-person, by email, snail mail, or social.
